Call for Submissions for Block N

Block N is a weekend intensive in physical creation for writers led by New(to)Town Collective, March 18 & 19, at PTC. Emerging or experienced, bring your curiosity and a willingness to play.

Block N is an opportunity for you as a writer to develop more tools for your process, fuel collaboration within a different creation context, and make new connections with collaborative artists. Participants will get a taste of New(to)Town Collective’s experience in composition parameters, Viewpoints, and clowning, playing with the intersections of these methodologies. Above all, Block N is a fast-paced experimental space to pique your curiosity in creating theatre from another perspective. Care to play with us?

Submissions should include:

  • a brief description of your writing practice and expectations for the program (200 words max)
  • a bio (150 words max)

Applicants must be members of PTC. The fee for Block P is $150 +GST, payable on acceptance. If finances are a barrier, please contact Davey Calderon (davey@playwrightstheatre.com) at PTC to discuss options. All application submissions should be submitted here. Only 10 slots are available for the program!

About New(to)Town Collective:

N(t)TC is an emerging theatre collective based in Vancouver, aspiring to provide accessible, experimental training workshops and creating new interdisciplinary works together.

We are interested in collaborating and cross-pollinating our practices and ideas with collaborators from across all artistic disciplines through our Training Jams. As a Collective, we bring together a unique blend of practices including: Grotowski, devising, clowning, visual arts, contemporary dance, playwriting, dramaturgy, directing and more! We are integrating these practices to train and create new works as a collective while supporting each other’s individual artistic endeavors.
