Playwrights Theatre Centre's (PTC) studio is home to PTC's new Canadian play readings, new Canadian play workshops, and the annual Vancouver NEW PLAY FESTIVAL on Granville Island. When not used for Playwright Theatre Centre's development activities, our intimate 85 seat studio is available for rental to commercial, private and non-profit renters.

• All rentals are subject to 5% GST.
• After 8 hours overtime rates come into effect to a maximum of 12 hours/day per technician or security personnel.

• Non-profit performance/public function rates assume one performance per day.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY PRIOR TO BOOKING THE STUDIO.

Rental times booked are inclusive. The Studio Theatre will only be available during the times booked. When booking, please remember to allow for set-up, strike and clean-up time.

The presence of PTC staff is a condition of use. Staff members include - but are not limited to - a Technician and/or Security person and are included in the cost of rental.

There may be NO FIRE/FLAME in the studio or any other room in the Festival House building. This includes cigarettes, candles, etc. Please note: you cannot screw/nail into the studio floor.

Renters must request permission from the Facility Manger and/or the Technician to hang any décor and/or set decoration. This includes attaching anything to any wall surfaces in the Festival House building.

PAYMENT TERMS
A deposit of 50% of the total rental cost will be due upon signing a rental quote. The balance of the rental, plus a refundable damage deposit of $200.00, will be required on the last business day prior to the rental start date.

All rentals are subject to 5% GST.

All rentals are billed hourly for a minimum of 4 hours/day up to 8 hours. After 8 hours, overtime rates come into effect to a maximum of 12 hours/day.

PTC reserves the right to add a premium for additional employees required to staff higher volume activities such as multiple performance/event days.

CANCELLATIONS
PTC requires a 30 day notice of rental cancellation. If the cancellation notice is less than 30 days prior to the start of rental, 25% of the rental will be charged to the Licensee. Please note: All rental cancellations are subject to a $100 processing fee.

TECHNICIAN
The technician is responsible for safety and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Studio. The technician is available to operate the lighting board and will also oversee the set up, strike and clean up of the studio. Only the PTC Technician is permitted to use the lighting board.

AMMENITIES
In addition to the Lighting and Sound equipment included in the rent are:
1. Full Kitchen facilities including fridge
and microwave (no stove)
2. Shower
3. Dressing/Green Room
4. Seating for 85
5. Board room-size tables,
2 @ 2'x8', 2 @ 2'x6'
6. Vinyl Couch, 2 seater, black
7. Bench, 8" x 4', wooden, white
8. Folding Chairs, 20, multi-colored
9. Audience Folding Chairs,
85, green, canvas/director style

SECURITY
This person is responsible for the security of Festival House.

INSURANCE
Not included in the rent. Renters are required to provide proof of third party liability coverage 10 days prior to the commencement of the rental. The renter is also responsible for coverage of any equipment brought into the venue.

BOX OFFICE/FRONT OF HOUSE
Renters are required to provide their own box office and front of house personnel.

CONCESSION
There is no concession provided by the facility but renters may set up their own concession. If the renter wants to serve alcohol during their event, they must request permission from Playwrights Theatre Centre.
Once permission has been granted by PTC, the renter must also provide a copy of a liquor license prior to the commencement of the rental.

SET UP & STRIKE
Renters are responsible for leaving the Studio theatre in a clean state. They must also restore any lighting or seating changes they made in their set up. When booking, please take into account any set-up and clean-up time required.

ROOM DETAILS
The Studio Theatre dimensions are: approximately 35' wide X 40' long X 16' grid height. The standard stage (playing area) is 18' X 18' with audiences on two sides.

Festival House is wheelchair accessible.
