Call for Submissions to PTC Associates
PTC is seeking four exceptional playwrights to join the company for three years, to develop a central project – and their practice – with PTC dramaturgs. Our past Associates have developed plays, process, and a community of theatre makers. The PTC Associates each receive a $7500 stipend, process design, dramaturgical collaboration, workshops with actors, studio space, a writers’ retreat, and support finding producing partners. The Associates talk about theatre making, ideas, and their experiences with each other and PTC’s artists. By the end of the third year, the Associates have each completed a new play with clear production goals. The deadline to apply for the program is November 15, 2016.
PTC Associates 2013-16: Carmen Aguirre, Elaine Avila, Dave Deveau, Hiro Kanagawa, Quelemia Sparrow, Adrienne Wong
PTC Associates 2010-13: Tim Carlson, Jan Derbyshire, Jenn Griffin, Jordan Hall, Lisa C. Ravensbergen, Jeremy Waller
Who should apply: emerging and mid-career writers with a big idea (first draft not required) who can spend at least 8/12 months of the next three years in Vancouver, and who are excited to collaborate with other artists on their work. If you have a performance/writing practice and have encountered exclusion from access to theatre-making, we are interested in hearing from you. While PTC’s current office is in a second floor space, convening and working space will be arranged with access and inclusion in mind, designed to create the best working conditions for each artist.
- If you have never written a play, or have not yet had a production, we recommend you apply to Block A in 2017 rather than the Associates.
- If you have a first or second draft play you are focusing on, we recommend you apply to the 2017 Colony.
