Explore using online and digital platforms and media to bring your best fool forward. Be it a character, persona, alter-ego or clown body you would like to perform using digital media, bring them to this class where we’ll play with finding presence, connection, and as always, silliness. One 2-hour session.
Playwright & Facilitator, Davey Samuel Calderon (he/him/his) is a queer Filipino-Canadian, American born, theatre artist based on the unceded territories of the coast salish peoples: the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and səlil̓wətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim-speaking Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). He has his BFA in Theatre Performance and Communication from Simon Fraser University. Davey is Co-Founder of New(to)Town Collective, an emerging theatre collective aspiring to provide accessible, experimental training workshops and creating new interdisciplinary works together since 2016. He has been facilitating performance theatre workshops with New(to)Town Collective on techniques such as devised theatre, Grotowski, clowning, and acting throughout the history of the Collective. He’s also been a contributing facilitator of the 2020 Block V (PTC’s block with VACT’s MSG Lab playwrights) last summer, and the Fiercely Made: Solo Performance workshop produced by Swallow-A-Bicycle Theatre (Online, Calgary). Davey is PTC’s Dramaturg, Public Engagement.
All workshops will be Pay What You Will: suggested workshop values detailed above.
