Mariam Barry is an actor and theatre artist from Norway and The Gambia. She immigrated to Canada five years ago and holds a BFA in Acting from the University of British Columbia. As a theatre artist, Mariam has worked with Rumble Theatre, Ensemble Theatre Company, Bard on the Beach, Urban Ink, Zee Zee Theatre, Peninsula Productions, Belfry Theatre, Passion in Practice, and LAMDA in various artistic roles. Her recent credits include: Theory (Rumble Theatre), Ruined (Dark Glass Theatre), The Christians (Pacific Theatre), UnSettled: A Journey of Our Homes on Native Land (The Cultch: Indigenous Youth Initiative), and In The Next Room or The Vibrator Play (Ensemble Theatre Company). Mariam has produced a sold-out staged reading series of ‘da Kink in My Hair by Trey Anthony and a three time remounted production of Love, Lust & Lace in collaboration with Axis Theatre. She was a company apprentice at Pacific Theatre during their 2017-2018 season, and is currently a co-producer of The Virago Play Series. Her passion for theatre is rooted in African storytelling.
