Davey Samuel Calderon (He/Him/They) is a dramaturg, performer, writer, and drag artist whose artistic career is dedicated to the creation of new theatre and performing arts work. Recent persona-driven projects have been Big Queer Filipino Karaoke Night! (BQFKN!) and My Name is SUMIKO. BQFKN!, a clown/karaoke/drag/filipinx storytelling show extravaganza, premiered at the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival with presentations and adaptation of the show at Carlos Bulosan Theatre (2020 Tales of the Flipside & KUMUSTAHAN), Vancouver Queer Film Festival (2020 VQFF Online Gala), and BQFKN! Finally, they’re also known for their Filpinx drag persona, Ate Dean Aidan Vanite Ethan Yo-yo Kaldereta the First (but gurrrrl, you can call her Ate Dee-Dee), who has been performing on stages and online giving Filipinx-Canadian vintage, designer knockoff drag for the masses.
