The Parallel Project

by 180 Momentum Collective

The Parallel Project was co-founded in 2020 by Argel Monte de Ramos and Jocelyn Tsui as a response to the lack of monologue options that were available to us in theatre school as Artists of Colour. Since its inception, they have curated over 15 new monologues written by and for IBPOC artists and have had presentations at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam and The Cultch in Vancouver. Currently, the TPP is an annual 7-week program bringing together a cohort of 6 new and emerging IBPOC writers to create six new monologues. These writers are supported by professional dramaturgs, actors, and directors during the process, and it culminates in a public reading of the new works.
