How do PTC Membership fees support the community?

Fees contribute to a growing community of playwrights, theatre and performing artists, donors, volunteers, and audiences that care about the kind of stories that are developed on our stages and the people that are represented through them. The new sliding scale fee model helps support our vibrant and inviting performing arts community, while giving members economic agency on how they want to connect with PTC.

FAQs

What is happening with membership?
As of Dec 2, 2025, PTC’s membership will shift from fees of $25 (Playwright Members) and $0 (Supporting Members) to a $5 – 50 sliding scale (all Members).

How was this decided?
To reflect a more economically accessible option for members and to better support PTC capacity, the introduction of a sliding scale of $5 – $50 was consulted between staff, board, and artists. This was then approved as a special resolution motion by PTC members in attendance at our AGM on Dec 1, 2025

Why this range of cost?
The sliding scale represents our values to support community members in choosing what they want to pay for membership, reflective of how we provide different payment options for our events, educational programs, and workshops. Allowing for the most accessible annual cost of $5 to the max choice of $50 (the true cost of membership benefits), PTC hopes to grow our membership base, while continuing to offer the programs and community engagement we provide to artists and audiences.

Who is the membership for?
Anyone! Playwrights and performing artists can get a membership so they’re eligible to be part of PTC programming and residencies or promote their work through our networks. Audiences and supporters of theatre can join to get early news about events, workshops, and projects. In general, memberships support PTC to keep maintaining this community of like-minded people who care about the kind of performance we see on today’s stages.

What programs am I eligible for under my membership?

  • Associates
  • Blocks (A, D, and special partnerships)
  • Collaborations
  • Dramaturgical Reading Program
